My niece

This is my niece, this photo was taken in 2003. I've made a tighter crop of the original photo, soften the image and de-saturate the colours for a B/W look.

My equipment

Here's a list of my equipment

FUJI S602Z Digital Camera (2002: S$1,250)
FUJI WL-FX9 0.79x Wide Angle Lens (2002: S$280)
FUJI TL-FX9 1.5x Telephoto Lens (2002: S$250)
FUJI 128MB SmartMedia Card (2002: S$105)
Sandisk 128MB Compact Flash Card (2001: S$125)
55mm Lens Adaptor (free)
55mm Lens Cap (2002: S$5.00)
55mm HOYA UV Filter (2002: S$15)
55mm HOYA Multi-coated circular polariser (2003: S$45)
SONY Ni-MH Battery Charger (2005: S$28.90 (previous one lost in Tsunami))
SONY 1800 mAh rechargeable AA batteries (2 sets of 4) (come w/charger)
1 cheapo Tripod (from Carrefour, only S$25.90)
1 even more cheapo Mini Tripod (from some shop in Lucky Plaza, only S$15)
HP Photosmart-130 Photo Printer (2003: S$299)
Lowepro TLZ-Mini Padded camera bag (2002: S$25)

Wah piang, spent more than S$2,500 just on equipment alone!! But hey, that was the initial 'investment', I've taken more than 3,000 pictures over the past two years.... all of which there was no processing fee nor printing costs. Well, that's the advantage of going digital... :)

Like I always say: Photographers don't go crazy, they just snap. :)

Excuse me, are you a model?

There are many things I like to take, but I've never really found my focus and decide what I would like to do. Perhaps I'm a little bit greedy here, want to try a little of eveything - Landscapes, street candids, macro photography, underwater photography, portraits, architecture, artistic, wildlife, nature.... etc.

Although I have not really found my focus, but since young when I see my father at work, I've always wanted to do portraits. But I never really got the chance to do it, cos nobody wants to be my model leh... so sad. So for now I can only concentrate on landscapes, wildlife and nature, street candids... and maybe macro on insects - here's one of my fav... taken at Botanic Garden in 2002.

Welcome, welcome!!

Started this new blog to post photos I've taken and some of the digital touch ups I've done in photoshop...

I still remembered I first touch a camera when I was about 13 years old. That time, my father was working as a photographer in a studio in Katong. So during the school holidays I will go to the shop with him to help him with the daily operations. Those were the good old days of film cameras and digital cameras were unheard of. During my 'working holidays' there, I began to learn about photography and the workings of a camera. But the interest never really kick started cos of the high cost in developing the photos and moreover I don't really have a camera that I can call my own.

The passion was always there but it never really take off....

Then came the age of digital photography, I had my first digital camera in 2001, a simple 1.3 megapixel HP215 digital camera and that got me excited for a while. And from there I moved on to a SONY DSC-P2, a 2.1 megapixel camera, and later on to a FUJI S304, a 3.1 megapixel digicam and finally now my 'wife' is the SLR-like FUJI S602Z which has served me well for more than 2 years :)
